Anglo American sells zinc business

South African mining group agrees US$1.3bn deal with India’s Vedanta.

Vedanta Resources, a metals and mining group based in India, has agreed to pay US$1.3bn for Anglo American Zinc, the South African mining group’s zinc business.

Anglo American Zinc owns the Skorpion mine in Namibia, the Lisheen mine in Ireland and Black Mountain Mining, which includes the Black Mountain mine and Gamsberg project in South Africa. Last year the business made a US$154mn profit on revenues of US$670mn.
