Poland's property market rockets

Last Updated May 18, 2010

Value of real estate deals hits three-year high.

Poland has become one of the leading property investment markets in emerging Europe, according to research by consultancy Cushman & Wakefield.

The value of investments in the sector during the first quarter of 2010 increased year-on-year by almost 600% to €812.3mn, its highest level since the second quarter of 2007.

Cushman & Wakefield’s head of European research, David Hutchings, described the speed of Poland’s re-emergence as “remarkable”.

“From being virtually friendless 12 months ago, it is now probably one of the top five targets in all of Europe for many and it’s not hard to see why – with investors obviously liking the relative growth and risk profile of the country, but also focusing much more on market size and liquidity than they did before the credit crunch.”
