UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking (MIB) has strengthened its equity capital markets (ECM) team and appointed Christian Steffens as deputy head of global ECM, Mark Coxon as global head of equity and equity-linked syndicate and Tijs Jansen as a senior originator within ECM origination.
All three appointments will be employed by HypoVereinsbank’s London branch. They will report to Mike Hammond, who was announced as co-head of markets and member of the executive committee of UniCredit MIB shortly beforehand during early October. Hammond, who also heads the ECM team, comments on the appointments: “ECM is a key component of UniCredit Group’s successful and rapid expanding capital markets business. These three new hires will further strengthen the ongoing development of this franchise.”
Steffens joins UniCredit MIB division as deputy head of global ECM effective immediately. Before his appointment, he was founder of Jomodo, a multi-channel ecommerce business in the nursery retail sector. From 1999 to 2002 he headed German equity capital markets at Lehman Brothers and before this he worked at SG Warburg and then at Merrill Lynch within German investment banking.
Coxon joins as global head of equity and equity-inked syndication from ABN Amro where he was deputy head of the syndicate desk. Between 2001 and 2002 he was head of equity syndicate for Asia Pacific at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong. From 1997 to 2001 he worked at Forsyth Barr Frater Williams and ANZ Securities as a trader. Coxon started his career at the equity syndicate desk of SBC Warburg in London.
Jansen will join ECM origination UniCredit markets and investment banking division as a senior originator and will focus on the CEE market. He joins from ABN Amro equity capital markets, where he has worked since 1999.
