Standard Bank Russia hires new head of investment banking

Francois Gamet has been appointed head of the investment banking group and acting head of the banking group of Standard Bank Russia. He will be responsible for business expansion and strengthening of relations with the bank’s clients on emerging markets, including the Russia / Africa / China triangle. The key fields he will be in charge of are M&A consulting and structured financing.

Before coming to Standard Bank Russia, Gamet was global head of power and infrastructure with the investment banking unit of Standard Bank Group.

Prior to Standard Bank, Gamet held management positions at international energy and investment corporations such as Actis, Globeleq and Suez. At Actis, Gamet was in charge of M&A projects and managed direct investments in companies with assets in power industry and infrastructure. Gamet was one of the founders and key managers at Globeleq, an energy company specialising in fast-growing markets.

Standard Bank Russia (ZAO Standard Bank) is the Russian subsidiary bank of Standard Bank Group. The group has operated in Russia since the early 90s. At the end of 2007 it obtained a license from the Central Bank of Russia allowing it to work with individuals’ deposits.
