FNBB appoints first Motswana CEO

First National Bank of Botswana Limited (FNBB) has appointed Lorato Boakgomo-Ntakhwana as CEO of the bank. She will be the first Motswana woman to hold this position.

Boakgomo-Ntakhwana has worked for the Bank of Botswana (BoB) and the South African Reserve Bank for a combined period of 17 years before joining the FirstRand Group in November 2004.

In the FirstRand group, she held the position of deputy group treasurer, head of international banks relations and head of Africa operations for a period of four years in Rand Merchant Bank, a sister investment bank, after which she assumed responsibility of a newly formed division, balance sheet management Africa in FirstRand, where she was responsible for the capital management, credit management and asset and liabilities management of the Africa subsidiaries.

Boakgomo-Ntakhwana replaces Danny Zandamela who left FNBB and joined FNB Corporate Banking, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
