Gortsunyan strengthens Moscow corporate team.

US law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP has expanded the expertise of its international corporate transactions practice by appointing a new partner.

Suren E. Gortsunyan joins the firm’s Moscow office and will advise on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets work, joint ventures and corporate restructurings. His clients will include real estate, oil services, retail, telecom, financial services and industrial companies.

Gortsunyan joins from Hogan Lovells and is the fifth partner to join Akin Gump’s corporate practice in recent months. Ilya Rybalkin has been a new addition to the firm’s Moscow team with Dino Barajas and Elliot Hinds joining the Los Angeles office, while Chadi Salloum is a new face in Abu Dhabi.

Rick L. Burdick, managing partner of Akin Gump’s international offices, says this latest appointment to the firm’s Moscow office “reaffirms our commitment to the Russian market as it emerges from the financial crisis and continues to grow”.

Gortsunyan adds that he has been on the other side of the table from Akin Gump’s partners and now looks forward to working side by side with them.

Akin Gump was established in Dallas 65 years ago and today has more than 800 lawyers in the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
