Arnold Ekpe to step down this year after more than seven years in role.

Pan-African bank Ecobank has confirmed that group chief executive Arnold Ekpe will step down at the end of 2012.

Ekpe has spent seven and a half years with Ecobank in his second period of running the group, which he previously led between 1996 and 2001.

Thierry Tanoh, currently the IFC’s vice-president in charge of Africa, Latin America and Western Europe, has been named CEO designate, and will take over from Ekpe at the end of 2012. Albert Essien, group executive director responsible for the corporate bank, and Evelyne Tall, group chief operating officer, have been appointed deputy group CEOs with effect from January 2012.
