Russian fund manager makes research, portfolio management changes.
Verno Capital, the Russia and CIS-focused fund manager, has made three senior-level hires.
Natalia Zagvozdina takes over as head of research after a stint as head of equity research at Renaissance Capital. In that role she was considered the country’s top-rated consumer analyst, according to Institutional Investor rankings. As well as leading the research team at Verno, she will cover consumer and financial stocks.
Tom Adshead, a 22-year veteran of Russian markets, will join as portfolio manager. Beginning his career with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Credit Suisse First Boston, he has held a number of equity research and portfolio management roles. He will focus on the fund’s long-short and long-only equity strategies.
From Renaissance Asset Managers comes Elena Kolchina, who is coming on board to assist with the launch and management of a new debt fund. She comes from running a Russian fixed-income fund, delivering an average annualised return of 10.3% from inception in 2006 through to May 31 2013.
