Bahraini bank names acting CEO following retirement of Mohammed Bucheerei.
Ithmaar Bank has named Ahmed Abdul Rahim acting chief executive officer (CEO) following the retirement of Mohammed Bucheerei this week.
Abdul Rahim, who has been in the industry for 35 years, is currently the Bahrain-based bank’s general manager for retail banking.
Bucheerei retires after a 43-year career in banking, including 22 years spent at Ithmaar, during which time he helped oversee its transformation from a conventional investment bank into an Islamic retail bank, completed in 2010. He was also chief operating officer at Dar Al-Maal Al-Islami Trust, Ithmaar’s largest shareholder.
