Development bank appoints Eastern Europe and Caucasus head.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Francis Malige to the newly created position of managing director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.
He will be responsible for the bank’s operations in Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Now based in London, he will be relocating to Kiev, Ukraine, later in 2014.
Malige joined the EBRD in 2010 as director of its financial institutions team. Before that he served a stint as managing director of corporate development at BNP Paribas, focusing on bank acquisitions.
To date the EBRD has invested about €15 billion (US$20.9bn) in 894 projects across Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.
