Banking veteran and agriculture expert Severine Mateo picked to head up 250-member team.

BNP Paribas is hiring 100 new bankers to be part of a new 250-person strong low carbon transition group to support corporate clients in their transition through decarbonisation and investors in deploying capital to low carbon ventures.

The group will be headed  by Severine Mateo, a more than 20-year veteran who has been working in BNP Paribas’ energy, resources and infrastructure division since 2016.

Mateo began her career as a researcher on agricultural policies for the Centre International de Recherche Agronomique pour le Developpement, which is the French agricultural research and international cooperation organisation. She is an Engineer in Agronomy and holds a PhD from Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University.

The new group will see 150 existing bankers pulled in from advisory, capital markets and industry teams already involved in low carbon transition, and 100 new hires.
