UK bank looking to drawn on the veteran banker’s deal-making credentials.

Barclays has hired Bruce Hart as head of investment banking for Africa, where he will be responsible for the UK bank’s coverage for clients based on the continent.

He will be based in Johannesburg, and report to Reid Marsh, head of investment banking for EMEA. He will also work closely with Amol Prabhu, country chief executive officer for South Africa, and head of Barclays’ private bank business in Africa.

Hart replaces Simon Denny, who left Barclays earlier in 2021 to join Goldman Sachs. Denny is running the US bank’s investment banking business on the continent as head of banking, Africa.
