Spanish bank lists on Polish market following subsidiary merger.

Spain’s Banco Santander has listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

The bank becomes the 51st foreign company to join the main market of Poland’s exchange. Santander agreed to list its business locally in 2012, when the Polish Financial Supervision Authority approved a merger between Santander-owned Bank Zachodni WBK and Kredyt Bank.

In a statement announcing the listing, Paweł Tamborski, president of the Warsaw exchange’s management board, said: “I am certain that this is yet another step on the way to the internationalisation of the exchange and the development here in Warsaw of a capital market of first choice for investors and issuers in Central and Eastern Europe.”
