US$250mn Qurayyat desalination plant expected to open in 2017.
Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has named the winning consortium behind a US$250mn independent water project (IWP) expected to launch in 2017.
A consortium comprising National Power and Water Co and Singapore's Hyflux will design, build, own and operate the Qurayyat project, a seawater reverse-osmosis desalination plant with a capacity of 200,000 cubic metres per day.
The plant will be run with a 20-year water-purchase agreement with state-owned OPWP.
