Daiwa appoints new chairman for Europe and ME

Masami Tada has been appointed chairman and CEO of Daiwa Securities SMBC Europe, the European arm of Japanese investment bank Daiwa Securities SMBC.

He joins the European head office in London from Daiwa Fund Consulting, the financial consulting and investment advisory arm of the Daiwa group of companies. Before that he was president of the unit.

Tada joined Daiwa Securities in 1978 and has held several prominent roles in Japan and Europe. These include executive officer of investment banking at Daiwa Securities SMBC, Osaka branch, and head of equity sales for Daiwa Securities SMBC in Tokyo. His international experience includes assignments in Germany and the Netherlands, and heading the equity division for Daiwa Europe in London.

Tada replaces Eishu Kosuge who becomes co-global head of investment banking for Daiwa Securities SMBC, based in Tokyo.

On January 1, 2010 Daiwa Securities SMBC will be renamed Daiwa Capital Markets, when Daiwa Securities Group takes full control of the firm, buying SMBC’s 40% minority share.
