French bank splits role between former corporate finance head and deputy risk officer as Thierry Aulagnon retires.

Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Bank has named new co-heads of coverage and investment banking.

Thierry Aulagnon, who joined the bank in 2000 and held the top coverage and investment banking post since 2007, will retire in the coming weeks.

From March 1 the role will be split between Thierry d’Argent, previously global head of corporate finance, and Sylvie Rémond, previously deputy group chief risk officer. Both will report to Didier Valet, head of global banking and investor solutions.

Meanwhile, Sylvain Mégarbané takes over from d’Argent as global head of corporate finance. He was previously head of corporate finance for power and utilities.

Societe Generale came in at number 12 on Dealogic’s 2014 league tables for investment banking revenue in Europe, with a 2.6% market share and revenues of US$552mn – eight spots ahead of Natixis, one ahead of Credit Agricole but three behind BNP Paribas. SocGen’s only top 10 spot came in debt capital markets revenue, where it was number nine.
