Investment services firm announces moves and promotions across Middle East and Africa division.
Investment services firm BNY Mellon has made several promotions in its Middle East and Africa team following the retirement of Tarek Elrefai, who was senior executive officer in the Dubai branch and head of client management for the region.
Tarek Sherlala has taken Elrefai’s role in the firm’s Dubai International Financial Centre branch, overseeing business strategy. He’ll also continue as the head of the company’s asset servicing business in the Middle East and Africa.
Rajai Ayyash has been made regional executive for the Gulf region after 10 years as country executive for the UAE, Kuwait and Oman, and more recently for Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain.
Giambattista Atzeni, who was formerly head of the regional corporate trust business, has been given a newly created role leading international wealth management. In turn, Brian Hoey has become head of sales and relationship management for corporate trust. Clive Robinson has moved to Dubai from the Netherlands to develop the firm’s Middle Eastern asset servicing business, while Beirut-based Bana Akkad Azhari has been named head of relationship management for treasury services in the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and the CIS.
