Ferran to drive Middle East business from DIFC HQ.
Euroclear Bank, a Brussels-based central securities depository, is to strengthen its operations in the Middle East by opening an office in Dubai.
The office, which will be in the Dubai International Financial Centre, will be led by Bernard Ferran, director and regional head. He takes up his new role on 15 June.
Ferran has more than a decade of commercial experience at Euroclear. He will now develop existing relationships and build new ones with Middle Eastern and African financial entities as well as those working in the Islamic banking market.
Euroclear’s chief executive, Yves Poullet, said opening an office in Dubai is a natural progression for the bank’s activities in the Middle East, which he described as “a vibrant market economy”.
He added that Ferran was chosen to lead the office due to his experience and market expertise in the region.
