Al-Sowailim targets Middle East and North African growth.

Ernst & Young, a global professional services firm, has named Abdulaziz Al-Sowailim as chairman and chief executive of its Middle East and North African operations.

Al-Sowailim has more than two decades experience with the firm and takes up his new role with immediate effect.

His main responsibility will be to grow Ernst & Young’s presence in the region, which currently comprises more than 4,200 people working in 20 offices across 15 countries.

Al-Sowailim believes this is a good time to be taking charge of the firm’s MENA practice. “The global economy underwent many fundamental changes, with the markets going through some very painful correction phases.

“Now is the phase of untapped opportunities,” he adds. “Only those willing to think ahead and differently will be in a position to survive, grow and succeed.”
