Akhrass and Lahham hired to lead Abu Dhabi office.

US financial services firm Perella Weinberg Partners (PWP) has opened an office in Abu Dhabi, is led by new partners Jameel Akhrass and Nabil Lahham.

They join the firm from Nomura and will work closely with New York-based founding partners Tarek Abdel-Meguid and Amr Nosseir.

Akhrass says the firm has a good reputation in the Middle East, while Lahham adds that he is looking forward to expanding its presence in the region.

Nosseir is happy that the firm has committed more resources to the Middle East. “Along with our physical presence in Abu Dhabi, we will have the depth and expertise to address the regional objectives of the firm’s non-Middle East clients, as well as the business needs of our clients in the area.”

Akhrass was previously Nomura’s vice chairman of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), while Lahham was a managing director of its investment banking group in the region, where he executed several regional and cross-border transactions.

Peter Weinberg, a founding partner and head of the firm’s advisory business, describes Akhrass and Lahham as “highly regarded and accomplished bankers” who, along with Abdel-Meguid and Nosseir, collectively have almost a century of regional and transactional banking experience. “We have assembled an exceptionally senior team which we believe delivers an unmatched level of commitment to the region,” he says.
