Sacks retains South African and equities roles.

Russian investment bank Renaissance Capital has promoted Clifford Sacks to chief executive of its African operations.

Sacks, who joined the bank earlier last year, heads a business that employs some 120 people in six offices. He remains South African chief executive and head of African equities following his promotion.

His new responsibilities include driving the bank’s geographic expansion across the continent as well as increasing its market share.

Prior to joining Renaissance Capital, Sacks spent more than a decade at Merrill Lynch where in 2006 he was appointed co-chief executive of African operations.
