BNPP IP: Global equity team

Asset manager hires Simon Roberts and three senior managers from NewSmith.

BNP Paribas Investment Partners (BNPP IP), the assets management business of the French banking group, has hired four senior global equity managers.

The team is led by Simon Roberts, who joins from investment firm NewSmith, where he was head of global equity. He previously worked at BlueCrest Capital and Lazard Asset Management.

He is joined by three senior portfolio managers, all former NewSmith managers: Jonathan Barnett, James Mann and Stewart Lambert.

Roberts reports to Guy Davies, BNPP IP’s director for equities.

In a statement announcing the hires, David Kiddie, the firm’s chief executive of international business, said: “Global equity expertise is key in the current environment and a clear priority for BNPP IP.”
