In May, the shared branch banking venture OneBanks announced it had hired Andy Willmot as its first chief technology officer (CTO). Willmot joins from Lloyds Banking Group, where he developed the architecture and engineering behind the group’s digital platforms. 

Willmot brings 25 years’ experience in financial technology to the role, including a stint as digital capability leader at KPMG. One career highlight was designing and delivering open banking APIs for Lloyds’ – demonstrating that this type of innovation and inter-bank collaboration was entirely feasible, even within the constraints of the legacy infrastructure. He has also held positions advising banks and other businesses on digital transformation and data analytics.
