DONG flying high with offshore wind
DONG Energy pushes forward with plans to add a further 5GW of offshore wind capacity to its portfolio by 2025 with major project awards in Germany.
DONG Energy has been awarded the rights for three new offshore wind projects in the German North Sea with a total capacity of 590MW by the Bundesnetzagenturency - the Federal Network Agency set up to promote competition in the energy, post, telecoms and railway markets. The new projects are for OWP West to create 240MW of offshore wind power; Borkum Riffgrund West 2 (240MW); and Gode Wind 3 (110MW).
All three projects are located next to DONG Energy’s existing Borkum Riffgrund 1 and 2 projects, which means that operations and maintenance can be handled from DONG Energy’s existing hub in Norddeich. The company has plans to combine OWP West and Borkum Riffgrund West 2 into one large-scale project.
