Coverage of this year’s winners

This year continued to present complex challenges and difficult operating environments the likes that have not been seen for many decades. We remain overwhelmed by the impressive, unique and innovative initiatives that the African Banking Awards winners bring to their customers, communities and the public sector.

The winning financial institutions’ contributions to fighting back the coronavirus pandemic are invaluable with every effort, donation, financial accommodation and hour volunteered being meaningful.

The African banking landscape continues to evolve at a lightning quick pace, the retail sector is in perpetual flux and corporate banking is looking more and more like retail with digital products and services coming to the fore and real-time services a prerequisite for retaining and winning new business. This is banking “not for the faint of heart”.

African corporates and sovereigns remain attractive on international capital markets, and a plethora of renewable projects and credits are generating substantial global institutional investor interest. Increasingly, Africa’s most innovative fintechs and start-ups are able to bridge funding gaps allowing these firms to accelerate growth and attract world class talent.

Congratulations to the winners on the many milestones reached, their outstanding commitment to clients, and the business acumen demonstrated to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and to register strong financial results.
