The acquisition of Yemeksepeti by Germany's Delivery Hero is the largest yet in the online food ordering sector.
Delivery Hero, an online food ordering business based in Berlin, has acquired Turkey's Yemeksepeti for US$589mn in the largest acquisition ever made in the online food ordering sector.
Launched 15 years ago, Yemeksepeti today processes three million orders per month and has seen top-line growth at an average of 60% per year. It is active in Turkey, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar and Jordan.
Delivery Hero is the largest online food ordering company in the world, processing 10 million orders per month. The company has been on the acquisition path of late, picking up Gulf Cooperation Council-focused Talabat.com and Greece's e-Food.gr in March. The acquisition of Yemeksepeti will be funded through cash and shares; the former shareholders of the company will acquire a stake of Delivery Hero.
