The London Stock Exchange has contracted Julia Hoggett to be its chief executive officer, taking over from interim boss Denzil Jenkins.

Hoggett moves to the stock exchange from UK regulator the Financial Conduct Authority, where she has worked since 2014. She was most recently director of market oversight, and has also worked as the head of the wholesale banking supervision department.

Hoggitt has held roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the fixed income division, the now wound up Depfa Bank and JP Morgan.

“Having spent my entire career in capital markets, I know the key role they play in providing vital capital to companies and institutions and delivering returns for individual and institutional investors,” said Hoggitt. “Clean and transparent markets are the underpinning of a vibrant and dynamic marketplace and will remain a huge focus.”
