Austria's Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) has named Karl Sevelda its new CEO following the resignation of Herbert Stepic.

Sevelda has been with RBI for the past 15 years and has been deputy CEO since 2010. He is also the bank's board member in charge of global corporate banking, a post he will continue to hold until a replacement is named. Johann Strobl has been appointed new deputy CEO.

In a statement announcing his new role, Sevelda says: "I am pleased with the trust that has been placed in me and look forward to the new task. The past years have not been easy due to the economic environment, but the proactive adaptions of our strategy proved successful. I will therefore continue on the way that my colleagues on the board and I have pursued together with Herbert Stepic."
