HSBC Middle East hires head of equities

Kaveh Samie has joined HSBC as managing director and head of equities for the Middle East, a new position.

Samie joins HSBC from Citigroup where he was regional co-head of equities, Middle East and North Africa. He joined Citigroup in 1993 from Oppenheimer & Co, having previously worked for Bank Julius Baer and Prudential Securities.

HSBC is the only international bank with a licence to trade on the two UAE markets, the DFM and ADX. It also has a licence for online trading on these two markets.
