McEleney moves from India role to become regional COO.

BNY Mellon has appointed Jim McEleney as its chief operating officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Based in London, McEleney will oversee the regional governance framework for BNY Mellon’s operations in EMEA. He will also be responsible for the management of the bank’s relationships with regulators across the region.

McEleney joined the bank in 1987 as a financial analyst and has held several senior roles, including chief administrative officer of global asset servicing. He also established a European office for the bank’s wealth management business. Most recently, he was chief executive of its operations in Pune, India.

By the end of June 2011, EMEA represented 26% of BNY Mellon’s revenues. The bank employs more than 9,000 people in 16 countries across the region.
