South African miner to visit bond market a week after securing US$1bn loan.
AngloGold Ashanti, a South Africa-based miner, is planning to issue a US$750mn bond.
The proceeds of the 10-year paper, to be issued on a 5.125% coupon, will be used to develop new projects.
AngloGold Ashanti has appointed Barclays and Citi as joint bookrunners for its first bond issuance since April 2010, when it raised US$700mn over 10 years.
The announcement comes a week after the company raised US$1bn from a syndicate of 13 banks to refinance its debt. The bookrunners included Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Standard Chartered and JP Morgan.
