Russian bank names new head of fixed income, currencies and commodities.

Troika Dialog, a Russian investment bank, has named Maxim Safonov as its managing director, head of fixed income, currencies and commodities.

Safonov brings more than 15 years of capital markets experience in Russia to the bank.

He joins Troika from Finisterre Capital, an emerging markets hedge fund, where he was a portfolio manager responsible for FX and rates strategies.

Safonov’s other roles have included ING’s head of financial markets in Moscow and leading HSBC’s Russian capital markets operation.

He reports to Rob Leith, global head of investment banking and global markets, managing director.

This is the latest is a series of recent senior appointments at Troika Dialog as it prepares to join Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank. These have included Todd Berman becoming its managing director, co-head of investment banking.
