New MENA investment and consultancy fund established.

A former director of private equity firm Abraaj Capital has established his own investment and consultancy firm targeting the Middle East and North Africa.

Jonathan Hall, who also held positions at HSBC and PwC, created Mulverhill Associates to work with buyers, sellers and companies expanding in the region.

The Dubai-based firm originates, evaluates, structures and executes investments and business opportunities in the Arab world as well as investing in seed and early stage prospects. Mulverhill says it has already completed its first investment, which involved a new recycling company.

Hall said his knowledge and experience of the market will be essential to the firm’s success. “Despite the global crisis and the inevitable need for a period of consolidation, the MENA region has established itself as a key area of focus and interest for businesses and investors, and will continue to attract an increasing flow of capital both for investment and expansion purposes.”
