Environmental investor launches new renewables team.

Climate Change Capital (CCC), an environmental investor, has chosen Stephen Lilley to establish a new European renewable energy team.

Lilley, who until recently was one of the principals in M&G/Prudential’s European infrastructure fund (Infracapital Partners), says investment needs in renewable power generation in the coming years present a “significant challenge”.

CCC's chief executive, Shaun Mays, adds that Lilley was appointed to lead the new infrastructure asset management team due to his experience and expertise.

He continues that with the EU committed to stricter emissions targets there will be massive changes in the way energy is generated and consumed. “The complete overhaul of the energy infrastructure will need considerable amounts of private capital to finance it.”

While at Infracapital, Lilley led more than £400m worth of investments. Prior to this he was a director at Financial Security Assurance.
