Project will increase Middle East’s access to renewable energy.
The Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy is to build one of the world’s largest solar power plants.
A 125 megawatt development will be built in the city of Ouarzazate, increasing access to solar energy across the Middle East and North Africa.
This is the first project to be implemented under the MENA Region Clean Technology Fund Investment Plan, which aims to increase access to concentrated solar energy.
The plan, which has secured funding from Climate Investment Funds, the African Development Bank and the World Bank, not only backs projects in Morocco, but will also look at opportunities in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia.
