GDF Suez reaches financial agreement on 94MW wind farm.

French energy company GDF Suez, along with its partners Investec and Kagiso Tiso Holdings, has reached financial close on the West Coast One wind project in South Africa. The wind farm, which has total generating capacity of 94MW, is located 130 km north of Cape Town.

GDF Suez holds a 43% interest in the project, Investec 34.5% and Kagiso Tiso 20%, with the remaining 2.5% going to a community trust. The consortium won the project tender in May 2012. A year later it signed a power purchase agreement with state energy company Eskom.

The wind farm is expected to go into operation in mid-2015.
