Maystadt discusses investment with prime minister.

The president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) has held talks with Ukraine’s prime minister to discuss future projects where the bank can invest in the country.

Philippe Maystadt met Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and Minister of Economy Vasyl Tsushko in Kiev.

During the visit Tsushko and EIB vice-president Eva Srejber signed the Host Country Agreement for the bank’s representation in Ukraine. The agreement improves how the EIB finances the needs of public and private clients and strengthens co-operation with local institutions.

The EIB has so far invested €465.5mn in Ukraine, financing projects in the infrastructure, energy, utilities and banking sectors. The pipeline of potential loans at various stages of due diligence or under negotiation is currently more than €1bn.
