Russia-Kazakhstan fund looks to raise US$50mn from new investors.

A new fund aims to boost collaboration between the nanotechnology industries in Russia and Kazakhstan.

The 10-year Russia-Kazakhstan Nanotechnology Fund is joint managed by VTB Capital Asset Management and I2BF Global Ventures. Its focus will be on domestic deals that can raise funds from international syndication.

An initial investment of US$50mn has come from RusNano, Russia’s state nanotechnology fund, and Kazyna Capital Management, Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund. VTB Capital Asset Management and I2BF expect to raise a further US$50mn from other investors.

The fund will open offices in Moscow and Almaty.
