Fox chosen to lead European fixed-income operations.

A New York-based securities and investment banking group has completed another step in its strategy to expand its emerging markets business.

Jefferies & Company has appointed Mark Alan Fox as managing director and head of emerging markets distribution for Europe.
This is the latest appointment to be made by the group after it confirmed the hiring of three senior emerging markets professionals in Singapore two months ago.

Fox has more than two decades of financial services experience. Prior to this appointment he spent eight years at UBS, eventually becoming managing director and head of emerging markets in the UK and Switzerland. Before that he spent three years at JP Morgan and was at Lehman Brothers for almost a decade. He has also been an associate fellow and examiner for the International Securities Emerging Markets Association.

Jefferies’ global head of fixed income, Tim Cronin, says the new position emphasises the group’s global presence. “With our significant expansion over the past two years, we now have more than 450 fixed-income professionals in the US, Europe and Asia, including more than 35 focused on emerging markets in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia.”
