New MD for fixed income capital markets team serving emerging markets.

Morgan Stanley has confirmed another appointment in its strategy to strengthen its growing fixed income capital markets business.

Petri Kivinen has been named as the managing director of its operations in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA).

He takes up the role immediately and is based in London where he will report to Paul Bartlett, head of CEEMEA fixed income capital markets.

The announcement follows other new faces joining the team recently, including Jim Yu, Chris Halliday, Vinay Jayaram and Bartlett himself, who said: “Petri’s arrival allows us to continue the expansion of our franchise and build on our recent successes, such as book-running Egypt’s first dollar bond offering in nine years.”

Kivinen is now responsible for debt origination for clients in the CEEMEA regions and will work closely with his colleagues across the firm’s investment banking, capital markets and fixed income divisions.

He has spent 16 years as a debt capital markets banker for various clients in the CEEMEA region. He began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston, but most recently was Renaissance Capital’s managing director and head of debt capital markets and corporate fixed income origination.

Prior to that he was managing director and global head of debt capital markets at Dresdner Kleinwort.

Morgan Stanley’s head of European fixed income capital markets, Claus Skrumsager, welcomed the firm’s new appointment. “The emerging markets are an increasingly important growth area for us and Petri’s unique experience in these markets will further enhance our product coverage for our clients.”
