Former SocGen director takes new role at bank.
Standard Chartered Bank has made Michael Haigh its first global head of commodities research.
Haigh will work in the bank’s Singapore office and report to Alex Barrett, head of client research, providing research and market strategy for commodities, focusing on energy, base and precious metals, agriculture and other markets.
He was previously managing director of commodity and alternative strategy hedge fund research at K2 Advisors, a US-based fund of hedge funds focused on the commodity markets. Prior to that he was head of US commodity research at Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking in New York.
