Investment bank hires former Linklaters man as EMEA head.

Moelis & Company, an investment bank, has hired David Cheyne as a vice-chairman of EMEA investment banking. He’ll work in the bank’s London office.

Cheyne joins Moelis from law firm Linklaters, where he was senior partner after five years as global head of the corporate department.

During his legal career, Cheyne worked on M&A deals, joint ventures, IPOs and general corporate finance work. Transactions he helped to completion include BP’s acquisition of Amoco, Vodafone’s acquisition of AirTouch and Mannesmann and Billiton’s dual-listed merger with BHP.
