Former Bulgarian finance minister to head Sofia business.

Russian investment bank VTB Capital has opened an office in the Balkans that will be headed by one of Bulgaria’s former finance ministers.

Milen Veltchev is the chief executive of the group’s new subsidiary in Sofia, which is expected to hire some 20 staff in the coming year.

He reports to Atanas Bostandjiev, VTB Capital’s UK and international chief executive.

This new office is part of the bank’s international expansion plan. In January the bank opened offices in Dubai and Hong Kong. A subsidiary in New York will open later this year.
