Casting company goes for experience to push growth.

One of Egypt’s major iron castings producers is to accelerate its growth plans after appointing an industry veteran as its new managing director.

Amreya Metal Company, a subsidiary of Citadel Capital-backed metallurgy and foundry group United Foundries, is now under the leadership of Dr Jerry Kucharczyk, who has more than 25 years experience of the industry.

Citadel’s managing director and co-founder, Hisham El-Khazindar, says Kucharczyk’s experience in the North American foundry industries will help expand Amreya’s production capacity to match international growing demand.

Kucharczyk joins Amreya from Canada’s Robar Industries, where he was vice president, managing the multi-plant company in two provinces.

His other positions have included vice president and general manager of Century Pacific Foundry, where he doubled the company’s profits in four years, as well as executive and managerial posts with The Frog, Switch and Manufacturing Company and Highland Foundry.

Kucharczyk says he is “excited” at joining Amreya at such a promising moment in its development and looks forward to identifying strategies to solidify its position.
Amreya currently has a production capacity of more than 6,000 tons of gray iron castings.
