New executive partner to lead Kazakhstan practice.

Maxim Telemtayev is the new executive partner of law firm White & Case’s Kazakhstan practice.

Telemtayev, who will be based in the firm’s Almaty office, joins from Macleod Dixon, where he was managing partner of the firm’s Kazakhstan business.

Jan Matejcek, White & Case’s section head for Central and Eastern Europe, said the firm is focusing on growing its Kazakhstan practice following a review of its CIS business. Telemtayev will lead that strategy.

He brings to the firm more than a decade of experience in M&A and corporate law, and has represented local and international companies in the energy, mining, banking and power sectors.

Telemtayev replaces Francis Fitzherbert-Brockholes, co-head of capital markets in Europe, who held the post on an interim basis following the passing of Yuriy Maltsev last year.
