Former deputy CEO takes top post following Al Zain’s resignation.

Bahrain Mumtalakat, the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, has named former deputy CEO Mahmood Hashem Al Kooheji as CEO following the resignation of Talal Al Zain last month.

Al Kooheji was recently CEO of Tamkeen, Bahrain’s labour fund. Prior to this, he was deputy CEO of Bahrain Mumtalakat since 2006. He began his career at the Bahrain Petroleum Company as an industrial engineer before joining the Ministry of Finance and National Economy in 1988.

Bahrain Mumtalakat is a state-owned investment firm for Bahrain’s non-oil and gas assets. In February, CEO Al Zain stepped down after serving four years in the role to rejoin the private sector.
