Lebedeva to lead Bank Zapadny

Lender names former Russian Development Bank president as CEO.

Russia’s Bank Zapadny has named Lyudmila Lebedeva as its new chief executive officer.

Lebedeva will work to build Bank Zapadny into a universal bank with an emphasis on retail banking.

Bank Zapadny chairman Dmitry Leus said the bank is entering a new phase of its development and that it will need someone with Lebedeva’s experience to lead the bank during difficult times for the industry.

Lebedeva has 16 years of banking experience. Her previous positions have included being president of the Russian Development Bank, deputy head of Moskommertsbank and vice-president at Probusinessbank.

The appointment is conditional on approval from Russia’s central bank.
