The newly formed HSBC Bank Oman has appointed Ewan Stirling as chief executive officer.

The bank was formed earlier this year through a merger between HSBC's Omani business and Oman International Bank.

Stirling has worked in the HSBC Group since 1986, and has held several senior management roles in the GCC countries, Hong Kong and the UK. He has been CEO of HSBC Bank Middle East Limited Oman since 2007.

Meanwhile Douglas Emmett, general manager of Oman International Bank, has resigned.
