Current chief Shahzad Shahbaz will remain for the time being to ensure a smooth handover.
Tamim Hamad Al-Kawari has been appointed CEO of Qatari investment bank QInvest. He replaces Shahzad Shahbaz, who will remain for a short period to help with the transition.
Al-Kawari steps into the role after a stint as deputy CEO. Prior to that he served as Goldman Sachs' managing director in Qatar.
An early aim will be to finalise QInvest's joint venture with Egyptian investment bank EFG Hermes, in which the former will hold a 60% stake.
