US$5mn deal is the fund's first in Africa this year.

Private equity firm Aureos Capital has invested US$5mn in Therapia Health, a Nigerian fertility company.

The funding, which was completed through its Africa Health Fund, will also support PathCare Nigeria, a medical tests company. Healthcare entrepreneur Dr Richard Ajayi is behind both businesses.

Therapia is the holding company of the Bridge Clinic, the only fertility clinic in West Africa. Since it was established in 1999 it has assisted with 3,000 IVF cycles resulting in 1,000 births.
